Brides to Be

Consignment Bridal & Formalwear Shop

Brides to Be And More is a well-established, premier consignment bridal and formalwear shop with an extensive, diverse selection. The consignment concept was the brainchild of Shirley Warren. Together with Phyllis Kelley the two friends founded the former Brides to Be store in 1984. The store was initially located on New London Turnpike in Glastonbury, CT. In 1998, Phyllis became sole owner of the company. That same year Phyllis and her husband proudly drove out to California to deliver 500 dresses for the making of the movie, The Bachelor.

In 2009 Phyllis moved the store to its current location at 2277 Main Street. Phyllis made her mark as a businesswoman and friend in the Glastonbury community. She built her success with “old-fashioned” personal service, providing a relaxed, no pressure atmosphere for her customers. Phyllis recognized the magnitude of the purchase of that “special” dress and made sure she and her staff strived to offer the best service by listening to the customer’s vision and working within their budget. She built strong relationships with her customers, creating bonds that extended beyond more than one generation in some families.

After 42 years in business, and at 92 years old, Phyllis decided it was time for someone else to enjoy her “happy place.” So, on October 1, 2025, she passed the baton to Nikki Reynolds.

At Brides to be and More we continue to emulate Phyllis’ extraordinary customer service legacy. With no appointments to create time restraints on making such a significant purchase, we encourage you to stay as long as you like. Our friendly, experienced staff listens to your needs and guides you to find the perfect dress that suits your personal style. It is our privilege to continue to serve you.
